Catch the Spirit - Catch the Cookies!

The Girl Scout Oquirrh Service Unit Presents. . .

     The Sixth Annual "Cookie Chaser 5k race and 2k fun run/walk" on May 2, 2009.  This fundraising event is being organized to generate support and raise awareness for Girls Scouts of Utah.

     Girl Scouts are known for great cookies - and we will be giving away lots of Girl Scout Cookies.  They will be awarded to age-group winners and given out in random drawings after the race. AND if you still don't have enough Girl Scout Cookies, we will have some available for purchase at the race. 

     Enjoy post race cookies, fruit, water and sports drinks.

The Results are In!!! 

 Congratulations to everyone who braved the rain and caught the Cookie Fever! Check out the race results on the results page (button on left).  We hope you had as much fun raceing as we did putting the race together.  Got cookies?

 

Do the DO-SI-DOS 
Want to do both races? The 2k race will start a half hour before the 5k, so now you can do both! Double the fun by signing up for the Do-Si-Dos.  Compete in both races for only $5 extra.

 

Overall Awards: Overall 5K winners will receive a "Cookie Crumbler" hat!!! Age group winners in both races and Overall 2K winners will receive special awards and Girl Scout Cookies.  

Goodie Bags: This year the goodie bags will feature gift certificates from Mocca Espress and coupons from Natural Joy Cosmetics & More, United Studios of Self Defense and One for Fitness and flashlights from Credit Union One.

Door prizes: Featuring Girl Scout Cookies, gift certificates from United Studios of Defense ($250 value), One for Fitness, and Natural Joy Cosmetics & More, and other great prizes.

Kid Korral 

The Kid Korral is back.  After the 2K ends, we will have a Kid Korral staffed by enthusiastic Girl Scouts leading games and activities to keep the youngsters entertained while the 5K is underway and the times are tabulated.  Games and activites are free to those 10 or younger. 



Looking back at 2008!

Thanks to everyone who came out to the 5th annual Cookie Chaser 5K/2K on May 3rd.  We had a record number of racers - 300!  The weather cooperated and we had a beautiful run. Race results are posted on the "Results" tab, so be sure to check out how you did.  The first 3 men across the line for the 2K race were Mackenzie Morrison (age 13), Alex Barry (11) and Doug Barker.  The women's winners were Tara Bradshaw, Ellisa Sargent (1st Girl Scout), and Amelia Slama-Catron (7).  Our first Girl Scout Leader in the 2K was Julie Slama. For the 5K race, the top man was Eric "Mr. Thin Mint" Vernon, with a time of  17:35.  Erik was followed by Brandon Kirby (17:47) and Mackenaie Morrison (18:03).  The women's race was won by Charity "Mrs. Samoa" Vernon in 19:05.  Following in 20:36 was Patricia Malatesta and April Garff (21:32).  The top Girl Scout in the 5K was Stephanie Hoffee (Senior); the first Girl Scout Leader was Linda Campbell.

Get Involved

Girl Scout troops can get involved by participating as an individual or as a troop/group. Participate or volunteer while earning your "Cookie Chaser" patch.  For more information, visit the "Get Involved" page.

Make a Donation - A special gift package will be awarded to the troop or group making the largest contribution.
